In hindsight I’ve had second thoughts with regards to the umbrella idea. It might be a bit contradictory (can't spell!) if we are handing out unusable umbrellas because that would be a waste of materials!
I had another idea though which might be worth a discussion...The fresher pack could be contained in an 'extremely cool/trendy!!!' cooler bag for your sandwiches thus making it reusable. It could therefore encourage students to make their own sandwiches for lunch esp. when going in for a busyday at Uni??? & maybe these bags could be personalised by the student in someway to make them more unique and less conformist?
Why would we do this?
Buying meal deals at Uni can be expensive and create alot of rubbish.ProblemStudents buy lunch at the SU for convenience.
Maybe we can overcome this?
we need to some how make making your own sandwiches cool... also bear in mindthere are social aspects like making the sandwiches to begin with, then wheneating them with friends!!! Also sandwiches are such a broad category, thereare so many options!!! Our subway on Thursday inspired me!

- How much do you think we spend on lunch at Uni in a week? I'd say we spendloads even though it's much cheaper to make our own lunches! & you can also keep them fresher with a really cool cooler bag!Perhaps this could be the main problem we identify???
I know it is coming away from the student accommodation focus but we are actually asking the student to make this change at home before they leave for Uni...(i.e. make your lunch) in the same way we might ask them to turn the lights,heating, TV & computer off when they leave the place!
The focus could now be about changing your habits before leaving your student accommodation.Loughborough was class btw. will tell you all about it on skype. when are you free to skype?
